Lead: Lift Operations

Job Description:

Summary of Job: Assist operators in the safe loading and unloading of Afton Alps 17 ski lifts, tow ropes, and conveyors. Provide excellent customer service by interacting with all lift passengers. Maintain both the load and unload ramps by shoveling and grooming the ramps and low clearance areas. Along with assisting in the timely restroom and lunch breaks for each operator in their area.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally to coworkers and guests.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of all policies, rules, and regulations of Vail Resorts and Afton Alps.
  • Help provide proper training to assist new and returning employees in the department
  • Assist operators in maintaining loading/unloading ramps along with the area around all lift stations by shoveling and/or raking snow
  • Demonstrate proper loading/unloading techniques in accordance to the department safety policies.
  • Assist operators in clearing all snow and ice from chairs before loading customers.
  • Maintain accurate daily records
  • Provide the required amount of breaks to lift operators throughout their shift.
  • Implement emergency procedures, including contacting Ski Patrol (as necessary)
  • Answer guest questions by being familiar with Afton Alps layout, products and services, or by asking someone who can answer the guest s question.
  • Maintain cleanliness of lift buildings and work areas, remove trash when necessary
  • Adhere to and role model the company s mission, vision, and values.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous lift operations experience preferred
  • Age: Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Work Experience: Must have previous experience as a lift operator at Afton Alps or another ski resort and show good work ethic.
  • Preferred Skills: Possess excellent employee and public relations skills and enjoy working with the public.
  • Indoor/Outdoor: Enjoy working outdoors in all kinds of weather.
  • Equipment used: Shovels, rakes, brooms, and other hand-held snow grooming equipment.
  • Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, hear, see, repetitive motion, carry, as needed for most of your work day.
  • This position is seasonal running approximately November through March.
  • Flexible schedule required during peak times throughout the year. Must be willing to work evenings, holidays, and weekends- Required.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to ensure: teamwork, high level guest contact, and commitment to guest services.
  • Must demonstrate ability to receive and give direction and act upon it.
  • Ability to communicate fluently with coworkers and guests in English.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements: This position works primarily outside, and requires prolonged periods of standing and walking on slippery and/or uneven snow or icy surfaces. Must remain alert and attentive at all times. Must lift up to 50 pounds, and stall chairs up to 220 lbs. Shoveling large volumes of snow and/or ice is required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
